I opened the shop the week before Christmas 2013 after being given an amazing opportunity from a local Business Man John Beedon, who is my Landlord

Our Shop is in Higham Ferrers, it’s a beautiful shop with lots of character and interesting features.
The shop consists of one main room with a small kitchen area out the back and a large slabbed area outside, with 1 room upstairs which is the workroom.

The first few months it was just me with help from family, but I took on my first apprentice Chaniqua in September, she is working towards NVQ LEVEL 2, she is doing all her training here at “PINKS” and has an assessor who comes out every four weeks.

Making Bertie

Bertie took me around 4 hours to complete and I really enjoyed creating him.

I used spray carnations and stallion Xanths for his hat, sprayed black and Aqua Double White Xanths for his face, sprayed pink.
His outfit was made from white double Xanths with alternate rows sprayed black, his trousers are yellow double Xanths, and his feet/shoes are made from stallion Xanths sprayed Aqua.
I covered the base with black aspidistra leaves and then glued liquorice all sorts on top.
Bertie’s eyes and mouth were drawn by myself and his nose is made for a bottle top sprayed black.
